Thirty minutes from the Strip the ground suddenly turns red. The 13-mile one-way Scenic Drive passes the red sandstone humps of the Calico Hills with grey limestone cliffs behind, and short trails start from every pull-out. Without stopping it takes 40 minutes, but scrambling over the rocks at the Calico viewpoints easily eats half a day. It's the usual pick when there's no time for the Grand Canyon.
