Ramen has been served beside Takabashi bridge, just east of Kyoto Station, since 1947 (per reviews). Pork-bone broth meets Fushimi soy sauce, dark in the bowl but clean on the finish, under a pile of Kujo green onions, mung bean sprouts and thin chashu. Open 6 a.m. to 1 a.m., it works before the first shinkansen or after a late arrival. Basic ramen ¥980; the meatier tokusei ¥1,230.
