Bamboo over 20 metres tall crowds both sides of the path, so looking up you see only a thin crack of sky. When the wind picks up the stalks knock together all around you. The path runs a little over 400 metres from Nonomiya Shrine towards Okochi Sanso, so it's over quickly. Walk down to the Katsura River and Togetsukyo crosses it with the hills behind; the slopes turn pink in cherry season and red in autumn.
