As the sun sinks into the sea, grill smoke and the sweet smell of fruit roll over the waterfront road. The front rows are fruit, mangoes, mangosteens and dragon fruit stacked in heaps; further in, seafood stalls grill the fish, prawns and clams you point at. A vendor known as 'Mango Boy' slices mangoes to order and shouts out catchphrases in several languages. By day the market building also sells pearls, dried seafood and handicrafts.
