Down at the shore below Sanbangsan, cliffs of volcanic ash laid down layer upon layer have been carved by the sea into wave-like stripes. A narrow rock path loops beneath them, waves breaking right beside you and small crabs hiding in the rock pools. Look up and the bell-shaped Sanbangsan fills the sky, so sea and mountain share one frame. At high tide or in big swell it simply doesn't open, so check before you go.
