Walk down the steps to the entrance and cold air rolls up at you even in August. Lava carved this tunnel, so the ceiling is rounded like a railway bore and the walls carry flow lines where the molten rock drained out. It closed after a rockfall at the end of 2023 and reopened on 30 May 2026 with a boardwalk along the whole open stretch of about 1 km. The 7.6 m lava column at the end is the big moment.
