A palm avenue leads into a subtropical garden and a bonsai garden, and the Hyeopjae and Ssangyong lava caves sit further inside. The Jaeam folk village holds old Jeju thatched houses moved here from elsewhere. The paths are flat, and an unhurried loop runs past two hours. The caves are cool, which feels like a gift in midsummer. Hyeopjae Beach is next door, so the two make a full west-coast day.
