The whole shopfront in this Karaköy street is one long baklava counter. Trays of pistachio baklava sit in the case; plenty of people carry boxes away, but just as many eat a plate standing up. Fresh ones crackle as the layers break. A glass of hot Turkish tea makes the syrup feel a lot lighter.
