About 15 min on foot from Kandersteg station to the gondola, then 20–30 min walk from the top to the lake

From the gondola it's a 20–30 minute forest walk, then the trees part on a lake the colour of poster paint. Behind it the Blüemlisalp peaks rise in a huge cliff wall with waterfalls threading down. You can sit on a mountain-hut terrace by the shore, or climb the panorama trail above for the view you've seen in every photo. It's a bit of a trek from Interlaken, but plenty of people call it the prettiest lake in Switzerland.
