- Address
- From Interlaken Ost via Grindelwald Terminal, the Eiger Express gondola and the Jungfrau Railway
The train tunnels up inside the Eiger, then a lift shoots you to the Sphinx deck at 3,571 m. Step outside and the Aletsch Glacier runs south below you like a frozen motorway. In the Ice Palace the walls and floor are solid ice, so everyone shuffles; out on the Plateau you're standing on real snow, queuing for the Swiss-flag photo. The air is thin enough that a few stairs leave you puffing, so take it slow.
