The hall where merchants from Fujian once met, did business and made offerings. Through the big triple gate on the street you reach a courtyard of bonsai and potted plants, and at the back, an altar to Thien Hau, the sea goddess who looked after sailors. Huge spiral incense coils hang from the ceiling with wish papers tied on, smouldering for days. With its red pillars and gilt, it's the loudest-looking of the old-town sites, and plenty of people come in just for the photos.
