Address
The grid of Tran Phu, Nguyen Thai Hoc and Bach Dang streets running parallel to the river, Hoi An ward (formerly Minh An)

A trading port from the 15th to 19th centuries that kept nearly all its old houses, which won it UNESCO status in 1999. Three or four streets run parallel to the river, lined with mustard walls, dark wooden shutters and mossy tiled roofs, with assembly halls, merchant houses and small museums tucked between. By day every lane has someone in an ao dai posing under the bougainvillea; at dusk the shops light their silk lanterns one by one and the mood flips completely. Cars and motorbikes are kept out at set hours, so walking is easy.
