A grey granite tomb stands at the head of Ba Dinh Square, where Ho Chi Minh declared independence on 2 September 1945. On normal mornings you queue, file past his body in a glass case and come out again; photography is banned and guards will correct where you put your hands. In 2026 the interior is closed for maintenance from 4 September to 2 November, reopening on 3 November. The square, the exterior, the One Pillar Pagoda next door and the Ho Chi Minh Museum stay open, so the loop around the complex still works.
