Housed in a former French boarding-school building, the museum runs from lacquer paintings inlaid with gold leaf and eggshell to silk landscapes and folk woodblock prints. A floor of old Buddhist sculpture and ceramics sits alongside. It is large, so allow two hours. It sits an easy walk from the Temple of Literature.
