German chain Motel One runs on a simple formula: small rooms, great locations, good design. This one is on Market Street between Waverley and the Royal Mile, with 205 rooms. Rooms are basically a bed and a shower, but they're tidy, and the ground-floor lounge bar works as a neighbourhood bar. At Edinburgh prices, this location for this money is hard to find.
