Most operators start from the small cove below Fort Lovrijenac outside Pile Gate (check your operator's meeting point)

This flips the view from the walls: you paddle the sea you've been looking down on. Fort Lovrijenac's cliff slides by, then the 25 m walls rise overhead. You pass under the Buža bars, round the south side of Lokrum and pull into Betina Cave, a little beach reachable only by water, to snorkel. Kayaks are doubles, so first-timers just follow the guide, and water, snacks and gear are usually included. Afternoons bring wind and chop, so beginners are better off on a morning trip.
