When the Old Town crush wears thin, take the bus west to Lapad, where a car-free promenade runs along the bay. Cafes and restaurants line one side; pine shade and a pebble beach line the other. Near sunset people drift towards the bar terraces at Sunset Beach. Instead of crowds on the walls, you get the sound of waves and an ice-cream queue to end the day.
