Address
Main entrance: the stairs just inside Pile Gate on your left. Other entrances by St John's Fortress (Maritime Museum) and near Ploče Gate

Climb the stairs inside Pile Gate and suddenly everything below you is terracotta. The loop runs about 1,940 m and rises to 25 m in places: on one side, courtyards with washing lines and a school playground; on the other, the Adriatic slapping against the rocks. Minčeta Tower, the highest point, lines up the rooftops, Fort Lovrijenac and Lokrum in one frame. There is almost no shade, so a July midday turns the stone into a griddle. Go right at 8am or in the last two hours before closing.
