In 1971 squatters took over an abandoned army barracks and built a commune that still runs on its own rules. Hand-built cabins, graffiti on every wall, lakeside paths, workshops and cafés make it feel like another country. The notorious Pusher Street, once the open cannabis market, was dug up by residents themselves in 2024, but they still ask visitors not to photograph, run or talk on the phone around that area. Follow the rules and a daytime wander is peaceful.
