Du Fu fled here during the An Lushan rebellion and stayed nearly four years, writing more than 240 poems. The rebuilt thatched hut is now surrounded by bamboo groves, plum orchards and ponds, so it feels less like a shrine and more like a long garden walk. It draws fewer tour groups than the Three Kingdoms sights, and reviewers keep saying it's at its best in the rain, with drops pattering on the bamboo. Even if poetry isn't your thing, the shade makes it easier going than Wuhou.
