Built in 1972 by Cebu's Chinese community, the temple stacks red pillars and green-tiled roofs on top of the hill in the well-off Beverly Hills neighbourhood. The entrance stairs have 81 steps, one for each chapter of the Tao Te Ching. Take them slowly and the pagoda and pavilions at the top frame a view over Cebu City to the sea. Inside, worshippers light incense and drop wooden blocks to read their fortunes. It's free, so people usually slot it in on the way up to Sirao Garden or the Temple of Leah.
