Ful and ta'ameya since 1959: Egyptian breakfast on one table

Budget
EGP 200-500 per person
Address
Atfet Mostafa Abou Heif, Bab El Louq, Downtown

A downtown institution that opened in 1959 selling ful (stewed fava beans) and ta'ameya (Egyptian fava-bean falafel). Wood, vines and old bric-a-brac give it the look of an old Cairo dining room. Mornings are ful, ta'ameya, bread and salads; later the menu stretches to kofta, stuffed pigeon and molokhia, so you can cover most Egyptian classics in one sitting. Travellers also mention it as one of the few Egyptian-food places that serves beer.
