Built in 1961, the roughly 187 m concrete tower wears a lattice skin modelled on a lotus stalk. From the top deck the Nile and its bridges run below you, the Citadel and minarets rise to the east, and on a clear day the pyramids show on the western edge. Smog often hazes things over, so go after a windy day or around sunset. There's a revolving restaurant, but most say you're paying for the view, not the food.
