Low lights, patterned cushions and brass lamps, and Egyptian home cooking served with some ceremony. Molokhia, pigeon, kofta and mahshi (stuffed vegetables) all come neatly done, which makes it the go-to for one proper Egyptian dinner. Plenty of people finish with om ali. The Zamalek original is the best known, with branches around Cairo.
