A long palace with a green dome runs along the top of the hill. It houses the Hungarian National Gallery and the Budapest History Museum, but most people come up for the terrace out front. From the balustrade the Chain Bridge starts right below you and crosses the river, with the Parliament off to the left and the dome of St Stephen's straight ahead. The courtyards and terraces are free at any hour, and a 15-minute walk north brings you to Matthias Church and Fisherman's Bastion.
