If the East Side Gallery is the Wall as canvas, this is the Wall as it worked. A full section of the border survives: outer wall, the raked-sand death strip, a watchtower, the inner wall. Climb the viewing tower at the documentation centre across the street to see the whole system from above. Metal strips in the pavement mark where the Wall ran and where escape tunnels were dug, and the panels tell of neighbours split apart and people jumping from windows.
