Dozens of seafood restaurants set their tables out on the sand along Jimbaran Bay. You pick fish, prawns, clams or lobster from tanks or ice, it's weighed and priced, then grilled over coconut-husk charcoal with a Balinese chilli glaze. As the sun goes into the sea, candles come on at every table and the lights of planes landing at the airport line up across the bay. When the tide comes in, staff drag the front tables back, and the waves end up lapping at your feet.
