There's a cycle path running straight through the middle of the building, so the first thing you meet is a bike bell, not a ticket desk. At the end of the Gallery of Honour, Rembrandt's Night Watch fills an entire wall, with a permanent half-circle of people in front of it. A few rooms along, Vermeer's Milkmaid is much smaller than anyone expects. Add the view down into the iron-galleried library and a loop of the garden, and half a day is gone.
