Locals just call it Ikh Delgüür, 'the big shop'. Upstairs the souvenir floor is crammed with felt slippers, miniature gers, horsehead-fiddle keyrings and cashmere scarves; the ground floor and basement supermarket stack up Mongolian chocolate, vodka and dried-meat snacks for gifts. Prices are fixed, so no haggling. Out front, a little plaza holds a statue of the Beatles, and the stretch of Peace Avenue around it is lined with cafés and money changers.
