After dark the street closes to traffic and turns into tables and neon. Music from every balcony bar fights the next one, while mango-shake carts, skewer stalls and foot-massage chairs line the middle. Signs still promise draught beer at 50 cents, and people walk straight in from a day of temples, sweat and all. You can walk the strip in a few minutes, but the lanes around it, Alley West and The Lane, hold quieter restaurants and cafés, so most evenings start and finish here. Reports from 2025–26 say it's quieter than it used to be, with fewer visitors.
