Pass through Gwanghwamun, then Heungnyemun, then Geunjeongmun, and the two-tiered roof of Geunjeongjeon rises at the far end of a granite-paved courtyard with Bugaksan mountain behind it like a folding screen. So many visitors rent hanbok that on a busy day the place looks like a period-drama set. Out west, Gyeonghoeru's 48 stone pillars stand reflected in their pond, and if you keep walking north to the little Hyangwonjeong pavilion the crowds thin out fast.
