Walk in along Celetná and the square opens up, with the two black needle spires of the Týn Church rising like a fairy-tale castle straight ahead. Five minutes before every hour a crowd packs in beneath the Town Hall to stare up at the Astronomical Clock. Two blue windows open, the twelve apostles file past, the golden cockerel crows and it is over in about 45 seconds. The real attractions are the 1410 dial itself and the view from the tower: walk the narrow gallery at the top and the Týn spires are at eye level, with the castle visible across the river beyond the red roofs.
