Porto itineraries
Hilltop to Riverbank in a Day
Be at Livraria Lello when the doors open, roll downhill past Clérigos, São Bento and the cathedral, cross the bridge for a glass of port, and finish with the sunset from Jardim do Morro. The most Porto you can fit into one day.
One Day in Town, One by the Sea
Day one covers Baixa and Ribeira, from Bolhão market to a river cruise; day two takes the tram out to Foz, grilled fish in Matosinhos and the Serralves gardens. Everything starts from a hotel on Rua de Santa Catarina.
Riverside Base, Out to the Douro
Stay on the Ribeira waterfront: sunset on both sides of the bridge on day one, a train into the Douro vineyards on day two, then the quieter churches, gardens and museum of Cedofeita on day three. Gentle enough for parents.
