Taco rice, taco filling piled on rice, came out of the bar strip outside the Kin base in the 1980s. King Tacos' Kin shop is the name on that strip, packing rice, spiced mince, cheese and lettuce into a foam box until the lid won't close. Splash on the tangy hot sauce, mix, eat. English signs and off-duty soldiers in the queue make it feel like a page of post-war Okinawa.
