A mountain village strung along a narrow ridge: inns, tea houses and temples in one long line. Tens of thousands of cherry trees cover the slopes in tiers, Shimo, Naka, Kami and Oku Senbon, making it one of Japan's top cherry-blossom spots in April. In the middle of the village, Kinpusen-ji's Zao-do is a colossal wooden hall, and from 24 October to 30 November 2026 it unveils its three hidden, blue-skinned Zao Gongen statues, each around seven metres tall. With autumn colour on top, autumn gets nearly as busy as spring.
