Follow the Naviglio Grande out of the Darsena basin and low old buildings press up to the water on both banks, every ground floor a bar, trattoria or small workshop. By day it's a lazy canal walk; from about six the mood flips, with spritz glasses on every bridge and aperitivo spreads laid out along the bar counters. Halfway along, Vicolo dei Lavandai still has its old roofed washhouse and stone scrubbing boards.
