Melbourne itineraries
Laneways to the River
Step off at Flinders Street and walk it all: laneway murals, free galleries, the market, a skydeck over the river. Central Melbourne is smaller than it looks, and one day covers the core.
Inner North and the Bay
Day one is the cafés and museums of Carlton and Fitzroy; day two is a tram to St Kilda beach and the Brighton boxes. Base yourself in a CBD hotel and head a different direction each morning.
Cliffs, Steam and Penguins
Two nights built around getting out of town: a day to the Twelve Apostles, a day for the Dandenong steam train and the Phillip Island penguins, and river evenings from a Southbank hotel. No driving, all by tour bus.
