After sunset, with lights off, blue sparks flash wherever a wave rolls in. Footprints glow, and so does water stirred by hand. It is plankton, so some nights the whole beach shimmers and others it barely shows. June to October on a dark, low-moon night gives the best odds. Swim or paddle out and the water smears like a galaxy. Stay a few nights on the island and keep trying.
