True to its name ('black sand'), Macau's biggest beach has dark sand. It feels a world away from the casinos: pine trees and sea, with local families barbecuing and flying kites at weekends. The water isn't especially clear, so think walk or picnic rather than swim. Lunch at Fernando's, the Portuguese restaurant just behind the sand, is a well-worn plan among visitors.
