This long arcade under Watanabe-dori goes for a 19th-century European lane look: stone floors, ornate ironwork ceilings and dim lighting, so it never feels like a subway passage. Clothes, accessories, cosmetics and cafés line both sides, and walking between Tenjin and Tenjin-minami stations turns into a shopping trip, planned or not. Department stores and street-level malls connect underground, so on a wet day you can cover most of Tenjin without an umbrella. Prices are friendlier than the department stores, which helps with gift shopping.
