The whole temple sits on a lump of black rock at the edge of the sea. At high tide the water closes in and it looks like it is floating; at low tide you can walk across the wet rocks right to its base. Only worshippers go inside, so visitors stop at the spring under the rock, take holy water and get a few grains of rice pressed onto the forehead. The real show is sunset, when the lawns and cafés on the cliff fill with people waiting for the sun to drop behind the rock's silhouette.
