A Japanese restaurant tucked on a side street one block off Ponsonby Road. The room is quiet and sleek, built for taking your time, and some call it the benchmark for Japanese food in the city. The sashimi platter uses 25 kinds of seafood and must be ordered at least 24 hours ahead. The pāua chawanmushi and Hokkaido scallop are also named. Tasting menus run NZ$180 to 360, and you can order a la carte.
