The museum stitches together a few neoclassical houses in the back lanes of Kerameikos. Ceramics, textiles and metalwork from across the Islamic world are laid out floor by floor. In the basement a stretch of the ancient Athenian city wall is exposed, and visitors mention a top-floor cafe with views over the rooftops. Unlike the Acropolis side, it's rarely crowded.
